School Uniform Policy
Look Smart, Feel Smart
We are proud of our uniform. The children look and feel incredibly smart and this reflects positively in their attitudes towards learning and striving to be the best they can be.
In school children are taught to take pride in their appearance as well as their work.
Girls Winter
- Royal Blue Blazer (optional)
- Royal blue cardigan
- White shirt
- School Tie
- Grey skirt, pinafore or trousers
- Black or Navy blue shoes
- Grey tights or white long socks
Girls Summer
- Royal Blue Blazer (optional)
- Light blue gingham dress
- White socks
- Black or Navy Blue shoes
- Royal blue cardigan
Boys Winter

- White shirt
- School Tie
- Grey trousers
- Black shoes
Boys Summer

Footwear: Black shoes or black low heeled ankle boots may be worn, but Knee high boots and high heeled shoes/boots are never allowed. Trainers are never allowed to be worn for school. No open-toe or sling back style sandals are allowed. Wellingtons may be worn to and from school in winter, but must never be worn indoors. Socks/tights to be worn at all times. (Children should never wear shoes or sandals with no socks).
P.E: White T-shirt, dark blue shorts, black plimsolls. These items should be labelled and stored in a draw string bag with the child’s name on, so the bag can be left in the cloakroom. ALL children must have a PE kit in school each week.
Hair: should be well groomed and in a style suitable for school. Boys - should not have shapes, logos or words shaved into their hair. Girls - should have long hair tied up. Plan gold, silver or black clips may be worn or plain navy or white hair bands. Coloured braids/beads or brightly coloured headbands are not permitted (for health and safety reasons)
Coats: Coats with a hood should be worn; black, navy or grey is preferred.
Parents and carers are requested to: ensure that children wear sensible black school shoes
Clearly label all items of children’s uniform
- ensure that children do not wear trainers to school, although they may be worn at lunch time if the child wishes to play ball games
- note that St. Mary’s has a ‘no jewellery’ policy (for health and safety reasons) although children may wear a small watch, and small stud or small sleeper earrings only.
